Frequently asked questions.
Do you work with children or teens?
I (Teva) currently see adults in my therapy practice. I supervise child & adolescent pre-licensed therapists and I work with parents on child and teen related issues, but at this time I don’t see minors directly.
What is your approach to internet addiction?
I use a compassionate approach that addresses the mind, body, relationships, and environment. The plan for recovery is structured to promote behavioral change in a relatively short amount of time while managing obstacles and co-occurring conditions like depression, anxiety, and loneliness. All interventions are selected based on your own values and goals. Significant participation outside the therapy office (between sessions) is required for behavioral addiction recovery.
Do you work evenings or weekends?
No, I work weekday mornings and daytime.
Can I see you for in-person therapy?
The bulk of my work is Telehealth. I offer in-person therapy at outdoor nature-based settings in Ventura County. I may offer in-office therapy soon.
I’m super busy, can I see you every 2-3 weeks instead of weekly?
I see therapy clients on a weekly basis. Consulting clients can be seen less frequently.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I take several plans for Telehealth therapy via Zoom. I cannot bill insurance for parent consulting or outdoor therapy. I can only bill insurance for clients who have a diagnosable mental health condition that I am qualified to treat. Contact me to learn more.
Are you a parent?
I am!
Do you only see mothers?
Not at all—fathers and all caregivers are welcome! I have advanced training in maternal mental health, but I love working with dedicated dads and work with many.
Where is your office?
In Ventura CA, between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. I see clients all over the state.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Please contact me HERE to start the process.
What should I expect during my first appointment?
The first session is a different pace and format from the sessions that follow.
I will ask questions about your current problems or challenges and specifically how they negatively impact your life.
I’ll also inquire about your history of mental health conditions, medical issues, substance use, trauma history, self-harm, work, social relationships, strengths, health, and hopes for therapy. There will be time for you to ask me questions as well. I’ll explain my assumptions on the healing process and what to expect in our work together.
The first session is to help me begin to learn about your challenges, goals, and how I may be able help.
